manual defrost is when u unplug and remove frozen stuff,remove frost buildup.put stuff bk,plug bk in,if it does not have manual defrost it has a timer that automatically defrosts for u,i would get the one that has the manual defrost,cost less to buy and less to run plus at least once a year u should empty Freezer and clean it out,get rid of "expired" stuff
